Busy spring expected for film productions at Pitt Meadows – Maple Ridge News

The City of Pitt Meadows is expecting a busy spring and summer for film productions.

So far this year, the city has had three film productions completed.

“A slow start,” said Jennifer Sundram, the city’s digital communications and engagement coordinator. Not just in Pitt Meadows, she said, but across the Lower Mainland.

However, three more productions are expected to begin in the coming weeks, Sundram noted.

Crews are currently preparing the set at Pitt Meadows Regional Airport for the filming of the Warner Brothers series called Kung Fu Season 2 is currently filming at Pitt Meadows Regional Airport.

Filming will take place from Tuesday February 22 to Thursday February 24 in the new airport terminal and in the immediate vicinity.

The cleaning will continue until Saturday, February 26.

Superman and Lois with Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch and Jordan Elsass is also filmed at Pitt Meadows. According to Hollywood North Buzz, filming for the production’s second season began in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland on September 14, 2021 and will continue until April 13, 2022.

In addition to the Pitt Meadows Airport Terminal, production companies will also shoot at SKY Helicopters and Pitt Meadows Quarry.

All productions have been TV series so far, Sundram said.

Sundram expects filming to start getting busier in the spring, especially since the council updated the town’s filming policy in November last year to allow filming in the South area. Bonson and Osprey Village on a case by case basis.

A full moratorium was imposed on filming in South Bonson in 2016 due to complaints about film shoots which local residents and business owners say have had a negative impact on the area.

In 2021, 100 filming permits were issued by the city which generated over $67,000 in revenue.
