Film Tampa Bay: The Organization Bringing Film Productions to Town

Film Tampa Bay helps bring productions to Tampa Bay. Also known as the Tampa Hillsborough Film and Digital Media Commission, Film Tampa Bay is the first stop for many filmmakers. For those wondering what it takes to bring movies, commercials and TV shows to the Tampa Bay market, chances are it started with this organization.
Film Tampa Bay markets the Tampa Bay area as a prime filming destination with one of Florida’s most diverse and culturally rich landscapes. Film Tampa Bay exists within Visit Tampa Bay, the region’s tourist board, to help drive the overall marketing impact and economic development of Tampa Bay. Home to one of the major commercial film markets in the United States, Tampa Bay is not only home to diverse locations, but also an extremely skilled crew, exceptional accommodations, knowledgeable salespeople, and state-of-the-art production facilities and technology.
All public property permits are processed through this office. Film Tampa Bay serves the cities and county as a liaison between productions and government officials required to sign permits, dramatically reducing bureaucracy for productions that choose to shoot here. Additionally, it offers exceptional assistance with productions, from pre-production services to securing locations.
Film Tampa Bay is also involved in the community, partnering with the Tampa Theater and other venues for free community events throughout the year. The new series, Film Tampa Bay Presents, is a quarterly event that takes place at the Tampa Theater and features Tampa-related films, whether it’s locations, talent or crew. Films that have been screened under this series so far include The conjuration: the devil made me do it and magic mike.
Film Tampa Bay was also the presenting sponsor of the Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF). For 15 years, GIFF has brought together creatives, producers and students to show Tampa Bay to international guests and pave the way for new contacts and production companies to bring their projects to Tampa Bay.
