LM Creations from the Netherlands presents its BMW EV conversion kit | thepack.news

Source: LM Creations press release | website | LM Creations (Netherlands) is a design and engineering office specializing in automotive design and custom constructions. The company was founded by Luuc Muis, a product designer, who has always had a passion for design and motorcycles. Combining this passion with technology and craftsmanship, Luuc designs and develops projects with a unique signature. Maybe you’ve heard of his Indian Scout Bobber called Hasty Flaming Buffalo? (Which is still on sale, more info: [email protected]).
One of his latest projects – the electric BMW R00 (based on a BMW R80 donor bike) – was recently showcased at Reload Land in Berlin. Luuc’s goal was to design a bolt on EV transmission that replaces the existing crankcase, retaining the characteristics of the gearbox and motorcycle engine.

Luuc Muis: “We chose to start with the BMW R types, an iconic engine design and a bike loved by the custom scene. But in addition to the possibilities with BMW airheads, there are several engines suitable for conversions. Basically any pre-unit transmission: BMW, Moto Guzzi, vintage Triumphs, Harley Davidson, URAL and a bunch of English brands. »

“The experience of riding a custom or vintage motorcycle is more than half the fun, engine shaking, revving, accelerating and turning heads as you cruise around. So we wanted to maintain that excitement while riding an electric motorcycle: shifting, revs, torque and definitely turning heads with incredible sound!” continues Luuc.
Imagine the whine of a supercharger combined with a JET turbine and incredible torque!

In addition to great sound, there is the handling of the bike. Instead of a fixed-gear electric transmission, the team kept the gearbox, so that the riding experience of a motorcycle is preserved and the load on the electric motor is reduced, just like a motor with internal combustion: less RPM, less amps needed, fewer batteries to carry.

“Most importantly, you can play with the Torque!” You can take off in any gear which will have different torque and speed experience in each gear. We had never done power wheelies with a BMW R type before, well, now we have!! Luc said.
