Plimsoll Productions acquires US and UK format rights to “Master Cleaners”

British prodco Plimsoll Productions, owned by ITV Studios, has acquired the rights to adapt the Danish competition format Master cleaners (a.k.a Det René Vanvid) for the US and UK markets.
The format, distributed by Magnify Media, was originally created by Danish independent television Heartland and pits the cleanest freaks against their fellow perfectionists in a multi-round competition to name the ultimate master cleaner.
Each contestant is challenged with a host of surprising and dirty tasks – sterilizing the festival toilets; eliminate stubborn limestone; rub and beautify pets – before taking on a panel of expert judges to take it to the next level. But only one will earn bragging rights and be crowned master cleaner.
“Master Cleaners is relatable television gold; it’s a delightfully universal format that is sure to appeal to the UK and US markets,” said Karen Plumb, Head of Factual Entertainment at Plimsoll Productions. “We are convinced that the international versions will be as attractive and successful as the original Danish production.”
Format rights have already been acquired in several territories, including The Oslo Company in Norway; the ITV studios in France; Bildergarten Entertainment in Germany; HEUS in Holland; Lotus Production in Italy and Mediawan in Finland.
