Trailer Plans Southland Alberta, Canada, Manufacturing Plant

Trailer manufacturer Southland Trailer Corp. plans to build a manufacturing facility in Lethbridge County, Alberta, Canada. The project is expected to create 250 jobs over the next three years.

The 85,000 square foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will incorporate robotic processes that will allow the company to double its production capacity for cargo trailers from 20 per day to 41 per day. The new facility, slated for operations in the summer of 2023, will be adjacent to Southland Trailer’s current location on North 44th Street, according to company officials.

“Southland Trailer Corp. is excited to work with the Government of Alberta on our new expansion. We look forward to continuing to provide new employment opportunities and strive to make Southern Alberta a top in the manufacturing industry. The new jobs created by this expansion will help boost Lethbridge’s economy and provide more opportunities for Lethbridge residents. We look forward to bringing new team members of all skill sets to Southland Trailer Corp,” said Monty Sailer, President and CEO of Southland Trailers.

The expansion is possible, in part, thanks to $2.06 million from the rural component of the Alberta government’s Investment and Growth Fund, according to provincial officials.

“Many companies ready to invest in new projects are looking for a proactive signal of commitment and support from the government. An incentive to complete a transaction, regardless of the amount, shows serious investors that attracting investment, and in particular high-impact investments that create meaningful jobs, is a priority for the province.” , said the Honorable Tanya Fir, Minister of Jobs, Economy and Innovation. .

Southland Trailers offers a complete line of steel dump trailers, flatbeds, cargo and heavy equipment in the quality brands Southland, Royal and Renn. The company has become one of the largest fabricators of steel products in southern Alberta, with a customer base that spans Western Canada, the Territories, Ontario and several adjacent US states.

“Southland Trailers is an Alberta success story, and its expansion is proof of the opportunity for investment and growth in Alberta. Southland’s expansion in southern Alberta is another example of high-impact, high-value investment in Alberta that is creating jobs, supporting our local communities and strengthening Alberta’s innovation in manufacturing. added Rick Christiaanse, CEO of Invest Alberta.
