Versogen Announces Appointment of New Chief Technology Officer to Lead Design and Manufacturing of Green Hydrogen Electrolyser Stack

Versogen announces the appointment of a new Chief Technology Officer to lead the design and manufacturing of electrolyzers producing green hydrogen.

Versogen, a fast-growing green energy startup, announces that Balasubramanian “Balsu” Lakshmanan has joined the company as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to guide its interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers and inventors. Lakshmanan will lead the design and manufacture of an innovative electrolyser to produce green hydrogen.

Versogen’s patented Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) is the secret sauce to its breakthrough technology that improves efficiency and lowers the cost of producing zero-emission green hydrogen.

Balasubramanian “Balsu” Lakshmanantechnical director, said:

“I am excited to lead the development of megawatt-scale AEM electrolyser stacks at Versogen.

“The transition to hydrogen energy in our society has been hampered by high production costs which inhibit demand. This problem has also hindered the investments required to create large-scale projects that will reduce production costs. I look forward to commercializing our solution which can enable affordable green hydrogen production at scale.

Balsu Lakshmanan, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer, brings extensive leadership experience in commercial development and manufacturing of hydrogen and fuel cell technology to the Versogen team.

His previous work includes projects at Ohmium where he was responsible for the development of a large-scale 100 kW Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser. Lakshmanan also worked at General Motors, leading the cell and system design for their Gen3 fuel cell system.

Lakshmanan is an inventor of over 45 US patents and co-author of several peer-reviewed publications. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of South Carolina and his BSc in Chemical and Electrochemical Engineering from the Central Electrochemical Research Institute in India.

Yushan YanCEO and co-founder of Versogen, said:

Since Versogen’s inception, we have built an excellent reputation in the hydrogen industry as an AEM supplier, delivering high quality membranes at scale.

“With the arrival of Balsu and our recent Series A funding, we are now also well positioned to become a leader in the production of larger AEM electrolyser stacks.”
